Sand casting is a process in which molten metal is poured into molds made of sand. Its main advantages are very low tooling costs and flexibility, making it ideal for the production of prototypes, low volumes and very large parts. The process generally produces a rougher surface finish and wider tolerances compared to other casting methods, but is an unbeatable option when cost and flexibility are the most important factors.
